Proper Brushing & Cleaning

Like mentioned earlier, it is the daily habits that matter. Therefore, it is essential that you brush your teeth properly. In fact, Improper brushing is as harmful as skipping the process entirely. It would be best if you took the time to clean your teeth properly. While you are at it, the movement must be in circular, gentle motions. This would remove the dirt, plaque, and germs. If plaque is not cleaned and removed, it can harden, which would lead to gingivitis or accumulation to calculus.

This also means that you should never neglect your tongue. The tongue should be properly cleaned as it could also lead to numerous oral health problems. There are traces of food, dirt, and plaque on your tongue, and therefore, it should be gently cleaned with a tongue cleaner.

Use a Fluoride Toothpaste

Thanks to social media influences, there are a hundred of dental products that could make your teeth whiter and brighter in a fortnight or less. As impressive as they seem, not all are safe for your health. They may make your teeth white, but your teeth’ health does not depend on the color. Make sure you go for the basic, over the counter, fluoride toothpaste for your teeth. Ditch the flavors, and the superficial whitening powers the product’s claim. Whitening of teeth can be safely done by cosmetic dentists as well.

For oral health and hygiene, toothpastes rich in fluoride are all you need. Fluoride helps in protecting your teeth against tooth decay. Your teeth are protected against germs and bacteria that lead to tooth decay, infections, and diseases. Along with protection, it also acts as a barrier that helps in the prevention of oral health issues.

Flossing

Most of us floss our teeth after meals when there is a food particle stuck between our teeth; this is a bad practice. Flossing is significant for oral hygiene and health, yet it is neglected most of the time. Remember, flossing is not solely for removing those tiny bits of broccoli or corn kernel stuck in between in your teeth.  There is a range of dental floss available in pharmacies. Also, if you wish to keep your teeth and gums in optimum health, then it is imperative that you consider flossing a part of the teeth cleaning process. Always floss your teeth first so that all the tiny bits of food and dirt gets removed from the mouth. Follow it with gentle brushing that would deep clean your teeth.

Never skip brushing

The general instructions say that it is essential to brush your teeth twice a day. However, it is important to rinse your mouth and floss your teeth after every meal, of course, along with brushing twice a day. It is a mandatory practice to brush teeth after you wake up, but a lot of us forget or purposely ignore brushing at night. This is a harmful habit. You are basically leaving the grime, plaque, dirt, and bacteria for seven to eight hours in your mouth. That is enough time for the same to turn into infections and diseases.

Make it a habit to brush your teeth before bed for a clean mouth and healthy teeth.

Regular visits to the dentist

It’s great if you are following the daily habits to keep your teeth clean and healthy, but it is essential to take professional advice once a month so that you are updated on your oral health. This is all the more important if you have dental implants.

There are no hard and fast rules to keep your teeth healthy. However, attention to detail is a must, and therefore, you must ensure that the tips mentioned above are followed religiously.
